Exciting News

I entered a writing contest a couple of weeks ago ... and won!

Aspiring writers of literary fiction and/or short stories were invited to submit manuscripts for discussion and feedback.

The prize is a 1 hour one-on-one meeting with the Writer in Residence at the Toronto Public Library, Kim Echlin.

Kim Echlin is an award-winning author, translator, editor, documentary-maker and teacher. Her books include The Disappeared, which was shortlisted for the Giller Prize, winner of the Barnes & Noble Discover Award, and was translated into 17 languages.

Well, you can imagine my excitement. I'm scheduled to meet with her next month - how will I ever be able to wait this long?

Yoooo-hoooo!

I'm back!  Did ya miss me?

I've been on a little writing adventure.  Met some nice people, improved my writing a little bit, and now I'm back!  It really wasn't a triditional writing class, more like a critique group with payments, lol!

We were all new writers, but we muddled through and managed to have a good time.  It was fun, and I don't regret a minute of it, but it was time to move on.

After all, the only way to improve any skill is to practice, pratice, pratice and I can do that on my own for free.

What have you been up to?
