Grandma Duty Resumed

Don't know if you've noticed or not, but I've been away.

Away from blogging, that is.  I resumed grandma duty as of March 3rd., when my daughter went back to work after a year off on maternity leave and now have the pleasure of little Emily's company to sweeten my days; we're a great team and are teaching each other all sorts or wonderful things!

These precious days with her are fleeting, I know, and I will miss them as I miss the days with this little miss (Emily's sister) who's in school all day now... my how time flies.  How I miss her baby-ness.

I'm trying to soak it all in and enjoy every moment, but I am exhausted by the end of the day and have little energy left for more than dinner and a bit of crochet in front of the TV.

I'll pop in when I'm able.

All the best from me to you!

Freedom 55-ish

I stopped colouring my hair in 2012 and have never looked back.  I don't wear makeup (well I do for weddings and funerals) and I refuse to dress 'my age'.  I'm still wearing the jeans and t-shirts I wore in high school ... well, you know what I mean.

The beauty industry and their lies no longer have a hold on me ... not that they every did (much), and I don't care if I look 'tired' or 'unkempt.'

I don't feel tired, as a matter of fact, I've never felt better or more alive or more comfortable in my own skin.  And as for 'unkempt', I'm sure my granddaughters would rather taste the skin of my naked face when they kiss me than Estee Lauder's Invisible Fluid Makeup foundation.  Who made that word up anyway?  Unkempt ...?

To me this is true freedom; by the way, I'll be 57 this Thursday!!!  I made it this far, yay!!!

This is me; I look this way on purpose.

And I like it.

As always, thank you kindly for stopping by!

Good Riddance

February is outta here, finally!

One of the coldest in recorded history (115 years now confirmed by Environment Canada) here in Southern Ontario.  The bone chilling, unrelenting cold led to hundreds of collisions, frozen pipes, and loss of revenue for local restaurants and businesses.

But March is in like a lamb ... i'ts balmy this morning with a predicted high of -5 later today.  We have lightly falling, fat flakes of snow and the sky is a gloomy grey.  I'll take it; so grateful to be out of the deep freeze.

There will be little in the way of signs of Spring for us in March ... that's April's job, but hopefully the promise of Spring will keep us a little warmer.

Happy, happy March to all!

As always, thank you kindly for stopping by.

"One swallow does not make a summer, but on skein of geese, cleaving the murk of March thaw, is the Spring."
