The Calm Before the Storm and a New Year Wish

I'm sitting here with my morning coffee enjoying the stillness (I'm the first one up) and thinking of you.

Ben in his Christmas sweater

Now that the Christmas chaos is past, the urgency to make plans for New Year's Eve has begun on the radio, television, and newspapers.  It just never seems to stop, does it? Annoying as it is, it's easy enough to just turn it off, throw it out.

So I'm enjoying the peaceful days of 'in between'.  Relishing in the calm; reading, crocheting, listening to the painfully beautiful sounds of Beethoven and letting the music caress my soul.

Our New Year's Eve plans are for a quiet evening at home; away from the hype, noise, and confusion.

And all I want for 2015 is peace, with a little joy sprinkled over here and there.

Happy New Year to all of you, my wonderful, wonderful friends.

Unmade Beds

I was at Ikea Friday, shopping with my best friend, Monica. She was looking for bath mats that no longer exist (we found out).  Actually, they do, but are no longer available in 100% cotton.  She was so disappointed.

Anyway ... the 'rooms' were all decked out for Christmas which I expected, but the bedrooms featured tousled, unmade beds strewn with cushions, stuffed animals, etc. It made me smile; hugely! And I wish I'd had my camera with me to show you the cozy, dishevelled deliciousness I lingered over like a child at a toy shop window.

I'm not sure why, but I've always found the sight of an unmade bed comforting.  Maybe the display designers at Ikea feel the same?  In any case, I was tickled.

ahhh .... heaven
Does the sight of an unmade bed comfort you, or send you into a cover rearranging frenzy?

Tell me.

I've decided to make all my gifts this year.  I'm working my way down the list and enjoying every minute of it.  I did take a little break on the weekend though to add some Christmas sparkle here and there.

Is there anything more magical than the glow of twinkle lights?

The painting of the office is finished and I've put everything back in its place (I did a little purging, but not much).

I know it's not popular to admit these days, but I LOVE my "stuff ".

I love the light & airy vibe in here now.

As we prepare for the holidays, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you how much you mean to me, and to thank you for your kindness, encouragement and support.

My little blog has only been around since September, but I've met and gotten to know you in ways that just wouldn't be possible without this wonderful thing we call BLOGGING.

We have an interesting little group here.  Women from varied walks of life and varied countries; Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.  We come here to share our interests, families, joys and heartaches.  We are daughters, sisters, mothers, aunties, grandmothers, and above all friends.

And I appreciate each and every one of you.

May this holiday season find you up to your ears in JOY!!!
